FAQS

Do you need help?

Here you will find answers to

frequently asked questions.

  • What are the non-destructive testing methods?

Non-destructive testing includes ultrasonic testing, dye penetrant testing, fluorescent penetrant testing, X-ray testing, magnetic particle testing and eddy current testing.

Müller & Medenbach has specialised in ultrasonic testing, in particular phased array testing.

  • What are the benefits of non-destructive testing?

Non-destructive testing provides a consistent and safe method to ensure the reliability of safety-critical components.

This can prevent the use of worn industrial components that have defects.

  • For which materials can ultrasonic testing be applied?

Ultrasonic testing can be applied to all materials capable of conducting sound, i.e. almost all metals.

This inspection method is mainly used to test weld seams, wall thicknesses, forgings, castings, semi-finished products or pipes.

  • What is meant by special inspections?

Special inspection is the use of sound effects in materials outside of conventional methods. One of many special inspection methods is manual or mechanised phased array testing.

Phased array probes can be used to independently control individual probes and specifically influence their transmission characteristics.

  • Who is allowed to perform ultrasonic testing?

Ultrasonic inspections and inspection reports may be carried out by qualified NDT engineers in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4179.
